As a family, we lean towards listening to music on every trip, and on every trip, we always seem to find a few defining songs. We are SiriusXM subscribers, and when it comes to a 10 hour drive, I highly recommend it. When I am at the helm, we listen primarily to PopRocks (channel 17). We also flip with Hits 1, Pop 2K, The Pulse, The Blend, 80s on 8 and 90s on 9. The following music helped to define this trip. Some songs we heard a lot, some just once, others just fit the bill; when it comes to a long ride in the car, the right music can definitely help the minutes to pass.
- Mysterious Ways – U2
- This was the first song we heard when we left the driveway, and actually heard it twice. We also came across One, The Sweetest Thing and Beautiful Day, all solid U2 tracks.
- It Must Have Been Love – Heart
- We only heard it once, but it’s one of those songs that gets every adult in the car singing.
- I Will Wait – Mumford & Sons
- Friday, I’m in Love – The Cure
- If the World was Ending – JP Saxe ft. Julia Michaels
- An appropriate song for the state of the world at the time.
- Sugar, We’re Going Down – Fall Out Boy
- By far my eight year olds favorite band, we heard several of their tracks. He is a huge Pete Wentz fan.
- Two Points for Honesty – Guster
- Oh My God – Alex Benjamin
- Dirt Road Anthem – Jason Aldean
- We actually heard this song in the car and live in Coligny Square on Hilton Head. It was great both times.
- Blinding Lights – The Weeknd
- A great song with a classic ‘80s sound. I worry that the song is so ubiquitous that it will become difficult to listen to in the near future.
- Let Her Cry – Hootie & the Blowfish
- Alyson may be the only person who grew up in ‘90s who does not love Hootie, so keeping this station from being changed was no small feat.
